中文摘要：柔然和鲜卑都是我国南北朝时期的北方少数民族。柔然曾是蒙古草原的主人,在其存在的近一个半世纪里,与当时鲜卑族建立的代国、北魏、东魏、西魏以及东魏重臣高欢之子高洋建立的北齐等政权有着复杂的关系。柔然与中原政权关系的显著特点,是战与和交叉进行,战中有和,和中有战。一方面柔然与中原王朝频繁发生冲突和战争,另一方面柔然又与中原王朝和平相处,多次朝贡、和亲、归附中原政权等。柔然对中原王朝的朝贡,中原王朝对柔然的赏赐以及互市等,都促进了双方经济的发展。柔然与中原在文化方面相互影响和渗透,多次和亲形成了一种独特的和亲文化,佛教也由中原传入柔然。

英文摘要：After establishing an empire in the Mongolian grasslands,the Rouran struggled for about 150 years with its neighboring countries,such as the state of Dai,the Northern Wei Dynasty,the Eastern Wei Dynasty and the Western Wei Dynasty which were founded by the Xianbei tribe and the Northern Qi Dynasty which was established by Gao Yang,the son of Eastern Wei' s paramount general.The notable features of the relationship between the Rouran and the Central Plains was the alliance frequently disrupted by conflicts.On the one hand,the wars frequently broke out,on the other hand,they made alliances by policies of tributes and rewards,peace-making marriages and so on.
