中文摘要：本文在三个层面上对唐传奇名篇《霍小玉传》作了新的阐释:从男主人公的角度,认为李益是迫于客观压力的“负约”,而非主观感情上的“负心”。从女主人公的角度,指出霍小玉的八年“短愿”,是她“至情”追求的集中表现,是对真爱的弘扬与对婚姻的超越,是对不平社会另一种形式的抗争。从作品文化意蕴的角度,提出小说的深层蕴涵在于揭示唐代门第观念与婚姻制度扭曲青年男女美好感情的功利性与落后性,认为应该重点挖掘男女主人公爱情悲剧后面的社会文化原因,而非着重批判个人道德方面的问题。

英文摘要：This text gives a new interpretation to the famous Tang legendary story The Life of Huo Xiaoyu from three aspects: From the angle of view of the man character Li Yi, he himself is forc ed to leave his love under the outside pressure, but not infidel in heart. From the angle of view of the woman character Huo Xiaoyu, she has struggled for the “utmost affection” and transcended over the secular notion of marriage. From the angle of view of th e cultural significance of this story, it is directed to criticize t he society,which has turned out this tragedy, but not principally to criticize someone's personal morality.
