英文摘要：The sculptors in Qin Dynasty could he divided into two types: one is great memorial works made by stone or bronze, which I have mentioned above: the other is tomb figures made by china clay, stone, wood or metal, and the. images carved on the surface of wares. Believing that people' s soul would never die, the rulers and the noblemen in slavery society not only put everyday article into the tomb, but also buried the slaves alive with the dead. With the development of thought and technology, the human-like tomb figures were buried instead of the slave alive. The mausoleum sculptures thus came into being which include the tomb figure, tomb guard animal, divine and lucky animal, honor guard animal, etc.In 1974 a villager who was digging a well founded tomb figures of soldiers and horses in Qin Dynasty. The tomb figures displayed the power and mighty of troops by making many types of appearances of the characters. Pottery horses were mould and modeled too. The whole body of the horse was of symmetry. There are plenty of detail changes in a small portion of the whole. The sculptor particularly shaped the head of horses: the forward bending ears, wide-opening eyes, breathing noses, and braying mouth. The superior craft is shown by the horse's alert manner, its strong feet, and its detail depicting of the eyes, noses, mouth, and ears. The whole figures of soldiers and horses have a feature: hiding the motion in the quiescence. The feature is the very one shocking people. The great achievement of memorial works indicates that the art of sculpture came into a completely new stage.
