中文摘要:唐代的地方祠祀可以划分为三个层次 :首先是由国家礼典明文规定并全国通祀者 ,其次是由地方政府所赋予合法地位的祠祀 ,最后则是由州县官府判定为淫祠者。对于地方政府而言 ,第二类祠祀最为重要 ,对它们的态度显示了国家意识形态对地方文化传统的妥协和引导。生祠和城隍神是这类祠祀的典型代表。对于为数众多、来源各异的地方祠祀 ,国家并不将其简单作为“淫祠”加以禁毁 ,更多是通过将其纳入国家礼制系统而赋予官方地位 ,其正当性来源于地方政府的认定。
英文摘要:In the Tang dynasty (617 906 BCE), local cults operated at three levels: official altars and temples recognized in the state ritual code; quasi official cults confirmed by the local governments; and cults labeled “unauthorized” by local governments. Of these three, the second——represented by Sheng ci and the Cheng Huang Miao ——played the most important role. Attitudes to such cults reflected relations of accommodation and influence between the state ideology and local cultural traditions. Rather than simply forbidding unauthorized cults, state governments sought to integrate local cults into the state ritual system, endowing them with official positions, whose legitimacy derived from the approval of local governments.
