中文摘要：江苏境内能确立的最初国家史,南土以吴国为要,北方属徐国最重。在前人工作的基础上,结合前人的研究成果,利用文献和考古的资料,对徐国的史迹作一论述,重点在于西周和春秋时期徐国的地域变迁。不同于前人之处,是以史料所记载内容的时间为序,从早到晚罗列文献并进行分析,力求廓清当时徐国的分布地区及主要事迹,即是从史料看历史,而不是从历史寻找史料。

英文摘要：The earliest state in southern Jiangsu province is Wu State ,while in the northern part the most important one is Xu State. This paper gives a full account on Xu State history while emphasizes on its territory variation during Western Zhou dynasty and Spring and Autumn period with the help of predecessors’ achievements ,literature and archaeological records.
