英文摘要：The author thinks that the motive mechanism of the rise of the cities in northern Xinjiang is reflected in two aspects: first, the state administrative power pushed this process; secondly, the formation of the market mechanism in northern Xinjiang exerted crucial influence on the establishment and enhancement of the status of the cities in northern Xinjiang and changed the traditional distribution pattern of the cities in Xinjiang, i.e., the number of the cities located in southern Xinjiang exceeds that of northern Xinjiang.
