中文摘要：本文以《禹贡》半月刊的创办为例探讨社会巨变之下知识分子对"致知"与"致用"的求索。《禹贡》半月刊的作者群主要是治古代史地的历史学者,在边疆问题探讨上多数走的也是质朴的考据之路,是学术研究呼应时代需要的典型代表。《禹贡》半月刊的创立缘起并非单一,它蕴涵着顾劼刚的多重意旨,随着时局的变化,它关注的重心也不断发生转移。从其影响来看,它对中国边疆研究的贡献不仅在于其取得了一大批丰硕成果,而且造就了整整一代边疆史地学人,掀起"我国研究边疆学之第二回发动"。

英文摘要：This article, based on the foundation of the semimonthly Journal Yu Gong(《禹贡》), discusses the intellectuals’ choice between pursuing knowledge and pursuing utility in the background of national crisis. The writers group of Yu Gong was mainly historians who studied ancient history and geography, and their study of borderland problem, which represented the responding to the time spirit, was basically textual research. The foundation of Yu Gong can’t be attributed to one reason, it involved many considering of Gu Jiegang(顾颉刚), and the Journal’s focus had been changing as the social conditions changed. As for Yu Gong’ contribution to China’s borderland study, it not only created lots of academic production, but also helped create a generation of borderland study scholars, and led to the second boom of borderland study.
