英文摘要：he present paper proves that three meanings of the Tibetan ward bal-po are:(1) Nepal;(2) place name“Ba-bu-chuan”跋布川seen in Chinese historical records;(3)btsan’s name乞黎拔布seen in“Tong-dian通典”,ch.190.Besides,the paper sug-gests the Tibetan term lho-bal means“borderland”.
