英文摘要:Some Xixia relics were recently uncovered at the Lucheng Site, Ejin Banner, Inner Mongolia. They include two painted clay Bodhisattvas, many inscriptions and Buddhist sutras in Xixia language. The icons with a height of 60 cm is the largest and best preserved of its kind from the Xixia period, apart from those at Dunhuang. They provide graphic and tangible materials for the research of the Xixia Buddhist art. The inscribed versions of the Xixia Buddhist sutras are found for the first time, and some of them are extremely important since they were translated from Tibetan directly. The discoveries have caused attention from scholars of the Xixia history and archaeology. Ejin in Xixia means"black river". "Black River City" (Karakhoto)on the Black river was a major garrison fort of Xixia, and a cultural, religious center in the Northwestern part of the kingdom. The city is notd for the huge amounts of Xixia relics, especially those found and taken away by the Russian expediter P. K. Kozlov in 1909. However, the biggest amount was uncovered during reconnaissances and excavations after the founding of New China. Only 20 km away from Karakhoto, this batch of finds add another one to the Xixia sites in Karakhoto area.
