英文摘要：Xitong was a place name of the Dunhuang area in the period of Tibetan domination.The place was a pastureland with plenty of water and lush grass.In the Late_Tang,it was looted by people of Tuyuhun and Huihu many times and wars happened there.In the paper,①the author makes a penetrating analysis and comes to the three conclusions according to the Dunhuang historical documents.②He introduces where Xitong was by the inference of scholars in the past.③He proves that Xitong is in the area of Sugan Lake three hundred kilometres southwest of Dunhuang now.In the Song and Yuan dynasties,it was in the Saliweiwu area.In the Ming dynasty,it was called Xiérding and was part of the Anding garrisom area. But in the Qing dynasty,it was called Seerteng.④Xitong is from Tibetan Language and from the phonetic angles of the place name and its means“a gold producing area”.In later periods,it was translated into Saliton,Xierding and Seerteng by mistake.Finally,the author also makes a discussion on Liulong and infers that it is Mountain Dangjin now.
