中文摘要：本文系作者为《中国原始宗教资料集成·考古卷》写的前言，认为考古发现对研究宗教的本质、起源和发展有重要的意义，中国考古发现的宗教遗迹和遗存物是中国原始先民的宗教观念、宗教感情、宗教活动的产物，指出只有借助人类文化学和民族学的理论和方法才能揭示其所蕴藏的宗教意义，强调对中国考古发现的研究进一步显示了原始宗教的本质及其三大发展阶段。

英文摘要：This paper originates from the preface written by the author for Archaeological Vo-lume:A Collection of Materials of Chinese Primitive Religion. It holds that the archaeo-logical discoveties have an important significance for the study into the nature,originand development of religion,and that the religious remains of Chinese archaeologicaldiscoveries are a product of religious ideas,sentiments and activities of the primitive chi-nese people. The author believes that only with the aid of the theory and methods of an-thropology and ethnology,can we reveal the religious meaning embodied in those dis-coveries,and that studies of chinese archaeological discoveries have revealed more clear-ly the nature of primhive religion and its three major stages of development.
