英文摘要:This large painting of peony,reed and goose was found in a Tang tomb dated the 3rd year of the Kaicheng reign period (838)excavated at Balizhuang in the western suburbs of Beijing in September of 1991. The present essay,based on an examination of its configuration, figures and techniques, compares the painting with other flower-bird mural paintings contained in other Tang Tombs at Xi'an and Turfan, and with a Tang dynasty artist Bian Luan's style as recorded in literal data. The author discerns in the mural an influence from Bian Luan's flower-bird painting. He also discusses,from the perspective of fashion,on the social psychology responsible for the motifs' entrance into contemporary poems and paintings, and their further entrance into the after world with all their load of social fashion and symbolism of familial prosperity.
