英文摘要：The Anzhangzi city-site, located 4 km southwest of the seat of Lingyuan, was exca- vated in 1979. It has a roughly oblong plan and measures 150-328 m long from the north to the south and 200-230 m wide from the west to the east. To the northeast of the site, there is a nearly trapezoid subcity, 128m long from the north to the south and 80-116m wide from the west to the east. Its western wall coincides with the nor- thern section of the city's eastern wall. Some sections of the city's walls rise more than one metre above the ground, with the top 6 m wide, the bottom 9 m, and the rammed layer about 10cm in thickness. The northern wall have been damaged in part, the wes- tern one has partially been distroyed by floods, and the eastern and southern ones are largely preserved. Excavations were carried out within the city-site, in the eastern, middle and western excavation areas, where 8,8 and 12 trial squares were opened respectively, and a trench was dug in the middle area. There were distinguished three layers of cultural deposits, which belong, from the lower to the upper, to the upper Xiajiadian culture, the War- ring States period and the Western Han respectively. In the upper Xiajiadian complex, 10 house-foundations and 1 ash-pit were discovered along with pottery, stone and bone objects, and 2 oracle bones as well; in the layer of the Warring States period, 1 house-foundation and 1 ash-pit were revealed, and pottery, tiles, bronzes and irons were unearthed; and in the Western Han deposits, the remains consist of a house-foundation, six ash-pits and four tombs, and the objects include pot- tery, smelting and casting equipment, bricks and tiles, sealing clay, and irons. Inscriptions on pottery show that the ancient Anzhangzi city must have been Shi- cheng County of Right Beiping Prefecture.
