英文摘要：Mr.Cai Guoqing is an artist of China who has been very active in the Western art eircle for these years,He went to Japan in 1987 and them to the United States in 1995,Cai Guoqiang's work,"'Rent-collecting House°±,being awarded the Grand Prix in the Venice Art Biannual in 1999,has touched up a debate in the circle of art review. Cai Guogiang says:°±generally speaking,the sculpure is exhibited after being finished in the studio in the West.There are no on-site performances made by the artists just as artists do,Clay Master Zhang for instance, in China.But there is a point that they have developed their conception art and from the traditional sculpture they have found that making sculpture might become an action art.What I have done in my work is showing my spectators the whole process of making sculpture as an action performance."He also thiks that he was not imitating or copying the or iginal work when he was making the work of "Rentcollecting House" on the site,He has done in a Chinese way.In such a sense,he is Chinese and will be good at the Chinese card all the time.He thinks that no Westerns is not playing the Western card.So it is not a problem whether the Chinese are playing the Chinese card or focusing on the Chinese theme.
