英文摘要:The late Paleolithic Yanjiagang site lies 25 km to the southwest of Harbin City and goes back to ca.20,000 BP.In its excavation squares HY84TA3 and HY84T4,hundreds of animal bones were found forming two roughly circular heaps, which the excavators believe to be remains of an ancient camp. This conclusion evoked an animated debate.Based on a comparative study of several European and North Asian dwelling sites of the late Paleolithic Age,the present paper argues that ancient dwelling sites, although situated in different regions and belonging to diverse types, still show a number of common features, and that the late Paleolithic vestiges affirmed to have been prehistoric people's dwelling sites,on the whole, share the same characteristics in three or more aspects. The circular heaps of animal bones on the Yanjiagong site, however, have basically no such traits, and the distribution of animal bones in them is distinctly unusual,so there is no forceful evidence that they are remains of an ancient dwelling site.Comparing the findings with the features of ordinary fluvial deposits, the author analyzes the distributing form of the components of each heap and the traces concerned with deposition, and points out that the heaps with the upper layers wider than the lower ones must have resulted from the floatation produced by the stream that ran from the primitive locus of the bones deposited on the site.Furthermore,he puts forward the hypothesis that the difference of the two heaps in the distribution of animal bones were due to their variety in type, and expounds that this theory can well explain the circular form of the bone heaps and their difference, the superimposition of smaller bones on larger ones, and the more steepness of the heap's inner wall than the outer one.Taking into account other related traces, the author infers that the two circular heaps are very likely remains of early man's butchering their prey in their hunting activities rather than those of their dwelling site.
