中文摘要：<正> 前言闽侯昙石山,居于闽江下游,距福州22公里,是一个高出江面约20余米的长形山岗,周围为闽江冲积地(图版壹,1;图一)。从1954至1963年,我们曾先后对这处遗址做过五次发掘。本报告是第六次发掘。发掘工作,从1964年9月11日至1965年8月5日止,历时将近一年。发掘工作由原福建省文物管理委员会主持,工作人员除本单位同志外,还有厦门大学历史系五位同志。发掘地点是在前五次发掘处的南部边缘地带。由于地势倾斜,地面坑洼不平等原因,探方(沟)大小不一。根据遗迹表露的现象,分三个发掘点。第一发掘点在南部,开七个探方(T114、

英文摘要：The site of T'an-shih-shan,a hillock rising to a height of over twenty metres abovethe waters of the Min River in the dry season,lies in the lower reaches of the river at adistance of twenty-two kilometeres from Foochow,the provincial capital.The present excava-tion,covering a total area of 513 square metres,was conducted in 1965 at three spostto the south of the previously excavated area and near the southern edge of the site.The deposits can be divided into three layers.The bottom layer,which is ratherthin,contains two ash pits and fifteen tombs.The pottery unearthed consists mainly ofa fine red ware.The middle layer,made up almost entirely of shell deposits which pilesto a depth of 1 to 1.5 metres,has yielded a total of forty-one ash pits and seventeentombs with a large number of artifacts.The upper layer has been badly disturbed,con-taining only a few artifacts of mostly hard pottery with impressed geometric designs.Judging by the materials used in making pottery and stone objects,as well as by theirshapes and manufacturing techniques,the artifacts unearthed from all three layers arelargely similar,indicating that it may well have been the result of their being lineallyrelated to one another.The extent and thickness of the shell deposits found at the sitesuggest that shellfish probably constituted an important food source for the T'an-shih-shan people.The discovery of the bones of pigs,dogs,brown bear,tiger,deer(Cervusnippon Temminck)and river deer(Rusa unicolor Keer),as well as of such stoneimplements as the adze and sickle,suggests that apart from gathering and raisingpigs,they also engaged in hunting and some farming.Radio-carbon tests of some oystershells unearthed from the middle layer give a date of 3,105±90 B.P.
