英文摘要:This is the second part of a report on the exploration and excavation of Ji'nan city, the ancient capital of State Chu, the first part of which is published in No. 3, 1982 of this journal. It contains detailed accounts of the excavation of Building Foundation No. 30 at Sonbo Village and the building site at Chenjiatai as well as some ancient wells, kilns and tombs. The site of Building Foundation No. 30 at Songbo Village is located inside Jinan city in its southeastern part, and at it, the sites of two big houses, one of the early period and one of the late period, were discovered. The house of the late period is of the two-slope-roof type, with a wall foundation 63 meters long and 14 meters wide. There is a partition wall in the middle of the rectangle formed by the above wall foundation that divides the building above into a west chamber and an east one. Outside both the south wall and the north wall, there is a row of stone plinths and aprons. The house foundation of the early period has not been excavated yet.The Chenjiatai building site is also located inside the city in the southwestern part, and a residential building in a deplorable ruined state was found on it. Near it were found two copper smelting furnaces and five heaps of carbonized paddy.Reconnaissances within the city have discovered 256 water wells and four tile kiln sites.Only a small number of the wells were excavated, some of which are equiped with pottery, wooden or bamboo enclosures, and some without. The general layout of the tile kilns is oval in shape, composed of an entrance passage, a furnace, an overn, and at chimney. Many Chu tombs buried there before the founding of the city were discovered inside it in the northeastern part. Only nine of them have been excavated. They are all shaftpits. The tomb furniture includes li-tripods,yu-vessels and jars. The excavaton have proved beyond doubt that the present city of Jinan is really the ancient capital city of State Chu, called Ying then. It was built between the late Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C.) and the early Warring States period (475—221 B.C.).The southeastern part is the palatial zone. The northeastern part of the city also contained many groups of important buildings. The city's industrial district of handicrafts was concentrated in the southeastern part of the city. Only the status of the northwestern part of the city at the time hasn't been made clear yet. Ever since its capture by Bai Qi, the general of State Qin in 278 B.C., this capital of State Chu, Ying, has been completely deserted. The archeological work on Jinan city is just a begining, and the excavation and study of the city of Jinan remains to be continued.
